Oreo Truffle Bark is all the same great flavors you love in an Oreo truffle, but with much less work! No rolling truffles! No dipping! Make a big batch for your next get together!

I remember the first time I laid my mouth on an oreo truffle. My friend and then roommate Liz came home one night around the hoildays with a cute little christmassy chinese food box from one of her students, filled with these chocolate balls. SOLD. I tried one and I thought “Jesus.H.Christ. WHAT IS THAT”. And when I found out that these magical balls of wonder were made by food processing a block of cream cheese and an entire box of oreos, rolling them into balls, and then dipping them in chocolate, I knew that I had to get into that. But the balls – the rolling – the freezing – the dipping. WORK.

Oreo Truffle Bark | And They Cooked Happily Ever After Well, let me just say the days of standing over the counter, rolling dozens and dozens of oreo truffle balls are OVER PEOPLE! This Oreo Truffle Bark is gonna change your life.  This idea actually came to me last year – I thought “Hot damn, I love oreo truffles and they are such a perfect holiday treat for entertaining or gift giving – bug goddamn, are they a pain in the ass to make”.  Maybe pain in the ass is a strong term – I should rephrase and say “time consuming and often times obnoxious” (can also be said for parenting).

This eliminates the scooping – the ball rolling between palms – freezing – then dipping of individual balls freezing again. UGH. You take that ball of dough, roll it out, smear some chocolate, do some heavy sprinkling and you get the same great taste from those magic balls, without all the work! Get that rolling pin out and make magic happen!

Ingredients
  1. 1 full box/bag of regular Oreos
  2. 1 8oz block of cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  3. 1lb milk chocolate
  4. sprinkles, or toppings of your choice
Instructions
  1. In a food processor, pulse your oreos until fine crumbs form. In a large mixing bowl, add your softened cream cheese and mix together until a dough forms (you can also add the cream cheese right into the food processor and make the dough that way).
  2. Lay out a piece of parchment paper, place your oreo dough in the center, and then place another piece of parchment paper on top of it. With a rolling pin, roll your oreo dough out into a large rectangle, about 9x13" (or so - doesn't have to be exact). After your dough is rolled out, place it in the freezer for 10-15 minutes.
  3. In the mean time, melt your chocolate.
  4. After your dough is frozen, remove from the freezer, and remove the parchment paper from either side. Set dough aside (if it tears when your pulling the parchment off that is a-ok)
  5. Take another piece of parchment paper, and spread out half of your melted chocolate. Then, place your oreo dough and place it on top of the melted chocolate. Spread the remaining half of chocolate over the oreo dough and cover completely. You can always trim your edges if your oreo dough isn't a perfect rectangle.
  6. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle your sprinkles on top, and then place the bark back into the freezer. Just before ready to serve, cut into squares. Keep refrigerated or frozen until ready to serve.
